On 15-3, as I have seen, its all or nothing. In that, you either get a five star dish or a two star dish — even if you use the same ingredients. You have to hit the combos in order to score the five star. This is different from the other challenges. On the one hand I like it, on the other, not so much due to you not knowing you hit the five star until the dish is complete.
Moreover, use your scrolls for ingredients wisely. On the first dish, you will have to scroll for apple when you can substitute double fennel and still get the combo bonus. On the fourth dish, if you cannot get to the fois gras for the sauce, use parmesean cheese (the classification for the ingredient is: savory).
Think combos, combos, combos in order to beat the challenge. I am currently 160 points shy of the 57,800 mark. Hope this helps.

Stuck on 15-3?! Yeah, so am I. I had a list of 4 out of 5 dishes that passed as 5 star. Tragically, I didn’t save the list and the game crashed my comp. Thanks for that Brighter Minds. Anyhow, Through trial and much error, here is what I have for 5 star recipes on 15-3:
First dish: (in this order)
red onion, pork, onion, peas (fennel), garlic, apple, fennel, tomato (On this dish, a double helping of fennel works if you want to save on your scrolls to get to peas. However, you need tomatoes in this recipe to hit.)
Second Dish:
black truffle, white truffle, black truffle, Roasted duck, pea, squash, lemon, cinamon sauce
Third Dish:
?
Fourth Dish:
black truffle, white truffle, brea, kobe, carrot, cabbage (spinach), spinach, fois gras sauce(parmesean sauce)
Fifth Dish:
?

Overall, I wasn’t actually impressed with this game. It killed me to have to throw green olives into a soup because I was out of ingredient shuffles and they were the only “savory” thing on the list. It would be better, in my opinion, if you could actually create dishes that would end up being edible!

Any chance we can see the recipes we are voting for???

I absolutely love this show so I am so excited about the game! What a great idea!

This is a great game! I’m also hoping for either a part 2 or an expansion pack feature more diverse cuisines and new ingredients! It also would be nice to see the actual ingredient being prepared as opposed to preset graphics (eg. showing red meat even though you are preparing scallops).

any hope for a DS or psp port of this game?

I checked it out Jerzee, but I’d have to play with a magnifying glass. I couldn’t read a single word. I haven’t aged a bit, but maybe my eyes have? I didn’t notice a faux hawk or colicchio head in the cyber contestant bunch. ;-D

Demo was too short. Only 40 minutes. Looks like it has the making of a good game.

Oh my gosh. Very happy that the new season has begun. To add to the excitement there’s a game to play so I can now challenge my friends to see who the real Top Chef in town is - me, of course. This game is AWESOME. Hours and hours of fun.

WHAT A AWESOME GAME! This is the best cooking game ever.
Comment by stevieallstar — November 11, 2008 @ 5:31 pm
Momma always said “If you can’t take the heat - get out of the kitchen!” I must say that the challenging game play has me hoppin’ to beat the heat. This is the best time management game I’ve played this year, and the cooking twists add to it’s deliciousness. All in all I say Top Chef the Game serves up fun!
Comment by David Will — November 11, 2008 @ 5:18 pm
This game might actually make me a better cook! Great ideas on what to make in the kitchen. I especially liked the Quick Fire Challenges. A great companion to the show.
If you know anybody who likes to cook or is a fan of the show this game would make a great gift.
If you like the show you’ll love the game!
Comment by Randym43085 — November 11, 2008 @ 4:35 pm
I really like this game! It feels like the TV show with the Quick Fire and Elimination Challenges. The voices of Padma and Tom is lots of fun too.
I really like the fact that some knowledge of food can help you in the game. I’ve played lots of the “cooking” games out there and you don’t have to know anything about food.
Now, I’m not saying I’m a cooking expert. Nor am I saying you NEED to know food to play, but it does help. The game also helps you learn. I want to try some of the classic flavor combos the game suggests.
I played my hour and bought the game.
Give it a try!

I am a huge fan of the show, but now I’m a huge fan of the game too! Thanks for the free download.
Comment by T-Bone — November 11, 2008 @ 4:26 pm
Great game! While I much prefer to watch other people cook, I love this game because I don’t have to clean anything after making my masterpiece. Lots of fun, especially for someone OCD like me who has to play each challenge over & over until I win Top Chef in every episode!

The Mac demo will be available soon, we’ll let you know as soon as it is!
Comment by Norm — November 7, 2008 @ 11:20 am
where is the Mac demo version?
Comment by Michele — November 4, 2008 @ 10:35 pm
I tried the demo version of this game. I loved it!!! It was fun. A little confusing at first but once you get the hang of it, it’s really neat. I enjoyed watching the dishes slowly being created as I chopped, diced, mixed and fried my way to the top. I would have liked to see a little more reality as the chef preparing these dishes, i.e. if I select tomatoe, I’d like to see a tomatoe being chopped, etc. But overall this game was very enteraining, and I enjoyed it very much. One of the best, time-management cooking games I’ve played in a very long time. Worth buying. Thanks.
